And, while it’s more common in older women – especially after menopause, unfortunately this condition can be a problem for women of any age.
Low oestrogen levels are a prime cause of vaginal dryness. Your oestrogen levels may drop during and after menopause, after giving birth and whilst breastfeeding. Treatments such as chemo or radiation can also be to blame as are certain medications. Another culprit that can trigger vaginal dryness is douching. And then of course, it also makes sense that lack of adequate foreplay and arousal prior to sexual intercourse can result in the vagina not being moist enough.
Symptoms of vaginal dryness include vaginal itching, burning, discomfort and painful intercourse. With all of these embarrassing and inconvenient symptoms, it’s not surprising that a study showed that vaginal dryness had a negative impact on a woman’s self-esteem, and consequently on her intimate relationship with her partner.
While oestrogen creams and vaginal tablets are commonly used to treat the condition, vaginal moisturisers can also be helpful.
Moisturising products one might want to consider using, include the GynaGuard Daily Control Intimate Comfort Gel which soothes and relieves intimate irritation and discomfort, while assisting with odour control at the same time. It has a light, non-greasy formula and is easy to use.
During intimate contact with your partner, GynaGuard’s Lubricating Moisturising Gel helps women relax and enjoy the moment! The moisturising effect soothes vaginal dryness and alleviates discomfort, enhancing natural lubrication.
The remaining products in the GynaGuard range, have been proactively formulated to promote optimal vaginal pH control.
